Here I am!!!! At last a official blog/space ,where I can jot down the recipes from yesterday,today and for tomorrow.I had no whatsoever interest in cooking except may be the eating part!! Around five years back I had absolute no clue on how to boil eggs? I still remember calling my mom and asking will four cups of rice suffice two people hunger? My mom still jokes about it. There have been numerous mishaps in the kitchen like the day I made rice porridge (Kanji) with 4 cups of Rice.I started making with a medium sauce pan and by the end had to transfer the whole Kanji to the largest pot in the kitchen.The amount of Rice porridge would have easily fed Julius Caesar army! was the remark made by beloved R. For quite sometime ,I gave up my cooking learning phase after multiple disasters and we,me and life partner/husband R, started eating outside.Around same time R had to relocate to new place for career.For few months I stayed with my mom and promised myself that I had to learn the basics of cooking,if we had any desire to survive in the new place.Being me, I never entered the kitchen nor had any inclinations to observe and learn from my mom.One day before my travel date,I grabbed a old shabby diary and from one end my mom started literally dictating basic recipes.I still have the blue diary which was life saver for a long long time.Just seeing the blue diary sitting in one of my kitchen drawer not only reminds me how far I have come but also lot of good memories.
My love for cooking and baking started with search for soul food. Simple food which satisfies our taste buds and appetite. Initially I used to make traditional dishes/home food and very soon my short term interest in cooking was over.One day while browsing in the library,my eyes fell on a baking book and before I knew I was on my way home with the book.I believe that was the start point for my love towards baking breads,cakes,biscuits and food.And I have never looked back.
I hope I will be able to maintain this blog.Being me,I don't know for how long this new interest of blogging will continue without becoming mundane.Let this be the new beginning for me,where I can share the recipes which I can cherish and reminisce from yesterday,today and for tomorrow.
